Rainstorm 7/18/09

I am huddled in my tent in a pouring rainstorm, somewhere along the Yellowhead Trail.

Rode a century today! 101 miles. Highlight of the ride? Avola. Not much there except 1 gas station/mini store, run by a guy who has a reputation as a real asshole. We were warned ahead of time. So I was super friendly. "Hot out there today," I said cheerfully.

"Good for you," replied Mr. Personality.

As we were pedalling away, I yelled, "Have a nice day" He mimicked me in a falsetto, "Have a nice day!" I snuck a photo of him when he wasn't looking.

The weather was nice for hours today: sunny but not too hot. Then it got gray. Around mile 75, we felt a few sprinkles.
(no kidding)

But it wasn't until mile 88 that the lightning rainstorm began. We got soaked before we managed to find some bushes to huddle under (around mile 94).

Then, it quickly turned sunny again and we got some great photos of the Athabasca Glacier.

We had rain on and off throughout dinner. I ducked into Bud's truck to stay dry. Now, the wind is raging, the rain is pounding, and the thunder is loud.
