Coming out of the closet

Back home, I have a secret that I don't usually disclose to others. It's not a horrible secret, but I have been cowardly. It is only now, with the support of some of my fellow cyclists, that I feel comfortable coming out of the closet about a certain drink.

No, it's not cappuccino. That is not a secret. My love for dark beer is not a secret either. I have always been public about those drinks, but private about the one that seems so childish: hot chocolate.

Of course, Carla at Caffe Diem and Lisa at the Dimond Peet's both know my secret because they often serve me on afternoons when I need a little "pick-me-up" to get me through the end of the day.

But all the other women on this trip have heard somewhere that chocolate milk is an excellent drink for cyclists. Perhaps it was written in the Canadian press somewhere. They look for an opportunity to buy one every day. Lynda, proudly showing off her lunchtime beverage.

And now that I have company, I am going public with my chocolate milk addiction. And of course, I too am drinking one every day on this trip.
